Vaginal Sanitation
Vaginal sanitation is a gynecological procedure aimed at cleansing and treating the vaginal mucosa with antiseptic or medicinal solutions to eliminate inflammation and restore normal microflora. The procedure is performed in a medical office and helps reduce inflammation, discomfort, and discharge, as well as prepare the mucosa for other gynecological procedures.
How the procedure is performed
Sanitation is performed by a gynecologist during a gynecological examination. The vaginal mucosa is treated with special antiseptic or medicinal solutions. The procedure usually takes a few minutes, is comfortable, and requires no lengthy recovery.

Preparation
- undergo gynecological examination
- take flora swab if needed
- avoid sexual intercourse 1–2 days before
- do not use vaginal medications or douching before the procedure
After the procedure
A course of treatment or additional procedures aimed at restoring microflora and eliminating the cause of inflammation may be recommended.
