1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3, Calcitriol, Serum)
The test determines the level of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 - the active hormonal form of vitamin D.
This indicator reflects:
- calcium-phosphorus metabolism regulation;
- bone tissue condition;
- kidney function.
The study is used for diagnosis of vitamin D metabolism disorders, kidney diseases, and parathyroid gland diseases.
Note: This test is NOT intended for screening assessment of vitamin D deficiency.
What the test evaluates:
- Level of the active vitamin D form (calcitriol) in blood serum
- Mineral metabolism and renal endocrine function regulation
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude intense physical activity 24 hours before
Medications:
Vitamin D preparation intake to be coordinated with attending physician
- With calcium-phosphorus metabolism disorders
- With chronic kidney diseases
- With bone metabolism disorders
- As indicated
Low calcitriol - possible active vitamin D insufficiency - mineral and bone metabolism disorders
Normal level - sufficient active vitamin D supply
Elevated level - may be associated with vitamin D therapy or metabolism disorders
