ANF (antinuclear factor, ANA)
The test detects antinuclear factors (ANF) — autoantibodies directed against cell nucleus components. Used for autoimmune disease diagnosis, especially systemic connective tissue diseases: SLE, scleroderma, dermatomyositis, Sjögren's syndrome.
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting 8-12 hours;
- exclude fatty food and alcohol 24 hours before;
- avoid stress and physical activity 30 minutes before.
Inform physician of hormonal, immune, or anti-inflammatory drug intake.
- Prolonged weakness and fatigue;
- joint and muscle pain;
- skin rashes;
- elevated temperature without obvious cause;
- hair loss;
- dry eyes and mouth;
- suspected systemic autoimmune disease;
- immunological test deviations.
Negative — ANF not detected.
Positive — antinuclear antibodies detected; may indicate autoimmune disease.
