Anti-CMV IgG Avidity
The study is used to determine the duration of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection.
Allows distinguishing primary (fresh) infection from past infection.
Particularly important when examining pregnant women and when planning pregnancy to assess the risk of intrauterine fetal infection.
Applied with a positive Anti-CMV IgG result to clarify the infection stage and the need for further monitoring or treatment.
Helps the physician make decisions about prevention, pregnancy monitoring, and management tactics for patients at risk of infection reactivation.
What the test assesses:
– Degree of avidity (binding strength) of IgG antibodies to CMV.
– Time of infection: low avidity — recent primary infection; high avidity — past infection.
– Used together with IgG and IgM serological tests for precise determination of the infection stage.
Biomaterial: Venous blood (serum)
– Submit fasting.
– Drinking still water is allowed.
– Avoid intense physical exertion before blood collection to stabilize indicators.
Medications:
– Antiviral medications may affect result interpretation.
– It is recommended to submit the test before starting antiviral therapy.
– Inform the doctor about any medications taken.
Recommended for testing:
– During pregnancy and its planning, to assess fetal infection risk.
– When interpreting serological results and assessing infection stage.
– When preparing for IVF and assessing reproductive risk.
– When clarifying the infection stage and monitoring immune response dynamics.
– Low avidity: indicates a fresh primary infection (possible recent seroconversion).
– High avidity: indicates a past infection and formed immunity.
Important — the result should be interpreted together with IgG and IgM for precise determination of the infection stage, especially in pregnant women.
