Anti-CMV IgM, IgG with Avidity (Serum)
The comprehensive study is designed to detect IgM and IgG class antibodies to cytomegalovirus (CMV) with IgG avidity determination.
Used for diagnosing primary infection, virus reactivation, or past infection.
Allows determination of infection duration and assessment of the patient's immune status.
Particularly important when planning pregnancy and during pregnancy to assess the risk of intrauterine fetal infection.
Applied for precise interpretation of TORCH screening and assessment of the need for monitoring or therapy.
What the test assesses:
– IgM antibodies to CMV: marker of acute or recent infection.
– IgG antibodies to CMV: indicator of past infection and formed immune response.
– IgG avidity: degree of antibody binding strength — low avidity indicates recent infection, high — past infection.
Biomaterial: Venous blood (serum)
– Submit fasting.
– Drinking still water is allowed.
– Avoid intense physical exertion before the test.
Medications:
– It is recommended to submit the test before starting antiviral therapy.
– Antiviral and immunomodulatory medications may affect result interpretation.
– Be sure to inform the doctor about all medications taken.

– IgM negative, IgG negative: no contact with the virus, risk of primary infection upon contact remains.
