Anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgM antibodies, quantitative
Determines IgM antibody level to SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Used for early immune response detection to COVID-19 infection and assessment of current or recently transferred disease.
Deviation mechanism: After SARS-CoV-2 infection, IgM antibodies appear first within days, gradually replaced by IgG. High IgM indicates recent or current infection.
Recommended for: patients with COVID-19 symptoms; contact with COVID-19 patients; early infection diagnosis; immune response monitoring.
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Fasting is preferred but not required
- Exclude alcohol 24 hours before
- Avoid physical activity and stress before collection
- Suspected acute or recently transferred COVID-19;
- immune response monitoring after vaccination (early phases);
- infection spread monitoring in population.
High IgM titer — recent or current infection.
Low titer — weak immune response.
Negative — IgM antibodies not detected.
Results evaluated together with clinical picture and other laboratory data.
Recommended physicians: Infectious disease specialist or General Practitioner.
