Anti-thyroglobulin antibodies (Anti-TG) (Anti-Thyroglobulin Antibodies, Anti-TG, Serum)
The test determines the level of antibodies to thyroglobulin — the protein involved in thyroid hormone synthesis. Used to detect autoimmune thyroid diseases. Applied in autoimmune thyroiditis, Hashimoto's disease, and diffuse toxic goiter diagnosis. Recommended for thyroid enlargement, hormonal background disorders, infertility, and pregnancy loss.
What the test evaluates:
- Concentration of anti-thyroglobulin antibodies in blood serum
- Presence and activity of autoimmune process in the thyroid gland
Biomaterial: Venous blood (serum)
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude intense physical activity and stress 24 hours before
Medications:
- If possible, do not take thyroid hormones 24-48 hours before (consult physician)
- Iodine preparations and biotin may affect results
- Inform physician of all medications taken
Recommended for:
- Suspected autoimmune thyroid diseases
- TSH, T3, T4 deviations
- Pregnancy planning and reproductive function disorders
Elevated antibody level: indicates autoimmune process (thyroiditis, Hashimoto's disease, diffuse toxic goiter)
Normal: autoimmune thyroid damage unlikely, but clinical data and other hormonal parameters are considered
Note: Endocrinologist consultation required during pregnancy to assess risk and adjust treatment.
