Antibody Screen, Anti-RBC Antibodies (Serum)
The test is designed to detect anti-erythrocyte antibodies, including antibodies to the Rh factor.
Used for prevention and diagnosis of immunological complications during pregnancy.
Prescribed before blood and blood component transfusion.
Important for detecting risk of hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn.
What the test assesses:
• Presence of anti-erythrocyte antibodies in serum
• Risk of immune conflict between mother and fetus or during blood transfusion
Biomaterial: Venous blood
• No special preparation required
• Fasting submission is preferable
Medications:
• Medication intake usually does not affect the result (as prescribed by a doctor)
Recommended for testing:
• During pregnancy
• Before blood transfusion
• When preparing for surgical procedures
Important: results are assessed in combination with clinical data and screening results.
Negative result
— anti-erythrocyte antibodies not detected
— low risk of immune conflict
Positive result
— presence of anti-erythrocyte antibodies
— increased risk of hemolytic disease of the fetus or transfusion reactions
Important: physician consultation is necessary for a positive or questionable result.
