Beta-CrossLaps (beta-CTX, C-terminal telopeptides of type I collagen)
Determines the level of C-terminal telopeptides of type I collagen (beta-CTX) in blood. Used to assess the rate of bone tissue resorption and dynamics of bone matrix metabolism. Allows diagnosis of osteoporosis, osteopathies, monitoring of bone metabolism-affecting therapy efficacy, and fracture risk assessment.
What the test evaluates:
- Beta-CTX level in blood serum
- Bone tissue resorption activity and rate of type I collagen breakdown
- Bone metabolism dynamics with osteotropic drug therapy
Biomaterial: Venous blood (serum)
- Draw blood fasting, in the morning (beta-CTX is subject to circadian fluctuations)
- Avoid intense physical activity 24 hours before
- Do not consume food or take bone metabolism-affecting medications without physician consultation
Medications:
- Osteoporosis drugs, hormonal agents, corticosteroids, or anticoagulants may affect results
- Inform physician of all medications taken
Recommended for:
- Suspected osteoporosis or osteopathies
- Bone metabolism monitoring in patients with chronic bone-affecting diseases
