Brucella Antibodies IgA, Anti-Brucella IgA (Serum)
The test determines IgA class antibodies to the brucellosis pathogen (Brucella spp.).
Used for diagnosing active and subacute forms of brucellosis.
Applied for prolonged fever of unknown origin, joint and muscle pain, increased fatigue.
Prescribed for occupational infection risk (veterinarians, livestock farmers, meat and dairy industry workers).
What the test assesses:
• Presence of IgA antibodies to Brucella spp. in serum
• Activity of the infectious process
Biomaterial: Venous blood
• Submit fasting
• Avoid intense physical exertion for 24 hours
Medications:
• If possible, avoid antibacterial and immunomodulatory medications for 24-48 hours
Recommended for testing:
• When brucellosis is suspected
• With prolonged fever and systemic symptoms
• With arthralgia of unclear etiology
Important: results are assessed in combination with clinical data.
Negative result
— IgA antibodies to Brucella spp. not detected
— no active infection
Positive result
— presence of IgA antibodies to Brucella spp.
— indicates a current infectious process
