Brucella Antibodies IgM, Anti-Brucella IgM (Serum)
The test determines IgM class antibodies to the brucellosis pathogen (Brucella spp.).
Used for early diagnosis of the acute form of brucellosis.
Allows detection of infection at initial disease stages.
Prescribed for acute disease onset with fever, chills, muscle and joint pain, increased sweating.
What the test assesses:
• Presence of IgM antibodies to Brucella spp. in serum
• Active acute infectious process
Biomaterial: Venous blood
• Submit fasting
• Avoid intense physical exertion for 24 hours
Medications:
• If possible, avoid antibacterial and immunomodulatory medications for 24-48 hours
Recommended for testing:
• When acute brucellosis is suspected
• With fever of unknown origin
• With acute joint pain of infectious nature
Important: results are assessed in combination with clinical data.
Negative result
— IgM antibodies to Brucella spp. not detected
— no acute infection
Positive result
— presence of IgM antibodies to Brucella spp.
— indicates a current acute infection
