C-Reactive Protein (CRP), Qualitative
Marker of acute inflammatory process in the body, used to detect inflammation and assess its presence.
The test helps:
- detect presence of acute inflammation
- suspect bacterial infection
- assess inflammatory process activity
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Submit fasting (8-12 hours without food)
- Water intake is allowed
- Avoid alcohol and fatty food for 24 hours
- Avoid smoking and physical exertion/stress 30 minutes before
Medications: when taking medications (especially anti-inflammatory and hormonal) — inform the doctor; self-discontinuation of medications is not allowed
Prescribed for:
- infectious diseases
- inflammatory and autoimmune diseases
- fever of unknown origin
- pain and swelling of various localization
Positive result — presence of inflammatory process (infection, injury, autoimmune disease)
Negative result — no signs of acute inflammation
