C-Reactive Protein (CRP), Quantitative
Quantitative marker of acute and chronic inflammation, reflecting the C-reactive protein level in blood and allowing objective assessment of inflammatory process severity.
The test helps:
- detect an inflammatory process in the body
- determine the degree of inflammation activity
- distinguish bacterial from viral inflammation
- monitor treatment efficacy
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Submit fasting (8-12 hours without food)
- Water intake is allowed
- Avoid alcohol and fatty food for 24 hours
- Avoid smoking and physical exertion/stress 30 minutes before
Medications: when taking medications (especially anti-inflammatory, hormonal) — inform the doctor; self-discontinuation of medications is not allowed
Prescribed for:
- infectious diseases
- rheumatological and autoimmune diseases
- postoperative period
- dynamic monitoring of chronic inflammatory processes
Elevation — acute inflammation, bacterial infection, exacerbation of chronic diseases, injuries, postoperative conditions
Normal/decrease — absence or minimal activity of inflammatory process
For abnormalities, consultation with a general practitioner, rheumatologist, or relevant specialist is recommended. Self-treatment is contraindicated.
