CA 72-4 (Cancer Antigen 72-4, GI tract, ovaries, lungs)
CA 72-4 oncomarker is used for diagnosis of GI tract, ovarian, and lung malignant neoplasms. Applied for early tumor process detection, extent assessment, treatment efficacy monitoring, and dynamic patient monitoring after surgical, chemotherapeutic, or radiation treatment.
What the test evaluates:
- CA 72-4 oncomarker level in blood serum
- Tumor process activity
- Disease progression risk or recurrence development
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Fasting is recommended
- Exclude food intake 8-12 hours before
- Exclude alcohol and intense physical activity 24 hours before
Medications:
- Chemotherapeutic drugs, hormonal therapy, and GI tract drugs may affect results
- Inform physician of all medications taken
Recommended for:
- Suspected GI tract, ovarian, or lung malignant tumors, and treatment efficacy monitoring
- Suspected gastric and intestinal tumors, prolonged dyspeptic complaints, unexplained weight loss
- Suspected ovarian tumors, cystic formations with malignant transformation risk
- Lung tumors, especially suspected adenocarcinoma or metastatic process
Important: CA 72-4 level is not used as an independent diagnostic criterion and evaluated only together with clinical data, instrumental methods (ultrasound, CT, MRI, endoscopy), and other lab indicators.
Elevated CA 72-4 possible with:
- gastric cancer;
- intestinal tumors;
- ovarian cancer;
- malignant lung tumors;
- some benign GI diseases and inflammatory processes
