Complement component C4 determination
The test determines the C4 complement component level — an immune system protein involved in inflammatory and protective reactions. Used for autoimmune disease diagnosis and monitoring, inflammatory process detection, and immune disorder assessment.
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting 8-12 hours (no water);
- exclude alcohol 24 hours before;
- avoid stress and physical activity 30 minutes before.
- Inform physician of hormonal, immunomodulating, or anti-inflammatory drug intake.
- Suspected systemic lupus erythematosus;
- autoimmune connective tissue diseases;
- frequent inflammatory diseases;
- suspected hereditary complement system disorders;
- autoimmune disease activity monitoring.
Reduced level — possible with systemic lupus erythematosus, other autoimmune diseases, or hereditary complement deficiencies.
Elevated level — may occur with acute inflammatory processes.
Note: Results evaluated only together with clinical symptoms and other parameters.
