Cytomegalovirus (CMV) — Avidity
Test for determining the avidity of IgG antibodies to cytomegalovirus. Avidity reflects the binding strength of antibodies to the virus and helps distinguish primary infection from past or chronic infection. Used for clarifying infection duration, assessing virus transmission risk especially during pregnancy, and monitoring immune response.
Biomaterial: Venous blood
Fasting for 8-12 hours; avoid alcohol and potent medications for 24 hours; avoid physical exertion and stress 30 minutes before.
Inform the doctor about antiviral, immunomodulatory, or hormonal medication use.
Suspected primary CMV infection; chronic recurring disease forms; pregnancy planning; detection of IgG to CMV without obvious clinical symptoms; assessment of virus transmission risk from mother to fetus.
Low avidity — IgG antibodies formed recently, possible primary infection.
High avidity — antibodies formed previously, infection past or chronic carriage.
Important: interpretation by a physician only, considering the clinical picture.
