Real-time PCR for CMV DNA detection. Important for suspected primary/reactivated CMV infection, immunodeficiency, pregnancy monitoring.
Biomaterial: Blood, plasma, urine, saliva, mucosal secretion, organ tissue
- Follow standard collection rules
- For blood — draw fasting
- For other samples — follow personnel recommendations
Medications: Inform physician of antiviral/immunomodulating drugs
- Suspected active CMV infection;
- immunodeficiency;
- pregnancy with high risk;
- antiviral therapy monitoring;
- risk group examinations.
Positive — CMV DNA detected; active infection. Viral load and treatment assessed.
Negative — not detected; repeat or serological testing may be recommended.
Final interpretation by physician.
