DNA CMV (Cytomegalovirus) — PCR, quantitative (urine)
Quantitative PCR for CMV in urine with viral load determination. Especially informative in newborns, pregnant women, and immunodeficient patients.

- Collect first morning urine in sterile container
- Hygiene without antiseptics before collection
- Deliver to laboratory promptly
Medications: Antiviral drugs may affect viral load — inform physician
- Suspected primary CMV;
- chronic/reactivated CMV monitoring;
- pregnancy;
- immunodeficiency;
- transplant monitoring;
- newborn monitoring.
Positive — CMV DNA in urine with specific viral load; higher values = more active infection.
Low viral load — latent or mildly active.
Negative — not detected.
Final interpretation by physician.
