Real-time PCR for HSV-1/2 DNA detection including early stages and asymptomatic cases. Used for herpetic skin/mucosal infection diagnosis and antiviral therapy monitoring.
Biomaterial: Swab from affected skin/mucosa, scrape from affected areas, cerebrospinal fluid, blood
- Do not use local antiviral preparations 24 hours before swab
- Avoid contact with affected area before collection
- For blood/CSF — standard collection rules
Medications: Inform physician of antiviral drugs
Suspected herpes infection; chronic recurrent lesions; treatment monitoring.
Positive — HSV 1/2 DNA detected; confirms infection.
Negative — not detected; repeat if early stage suspected.
Final interpretation by physician.
