DNA HPV 16/18 (Human Papillomavirus types 16 and 18) — PCR, qualitative
Real-time PCR for HPV types 16 and 18 DNA — high oncogenic risk strains. Detects virus at early stages including asymptomatic infection. Assesses cervical dysplasia and cancer risk.
Biomaterial: Cervical, vaginal, urethral swab, genital mucosal scrape
- Do not use local preparations 24 hours before swab
- Exclude sexual contacts 24 hours before
- Do not douche before collection
Medications: Inform physician of antiviral/hormonal drugs
- Suspected HPV infection;
- pathological cervical changes by cytology;
- asymptomatic sexually active women;
- treatment monitoring;
- preventive examinations (women over 25).
Positive — HPV 16 or 18 DNA detected; high oncological risk; gynecologist monitoring required.
Negative — virus not detected; repeat after 6-12 months with risk factors.
Final interpretation by physician.
