DNA Listeria spp. — PCR, qualitative (blood)
Detects Listeria spp. DNA — listeriosis causative agents. PCR detects genetic material even when traditional methods (blood culture, serology) fail. Used for accurate diagnosis especially with negative blood cultures and persisting symptoms.
Infection routes:
- consuming contaminated animal products (dairy, meat, ready-to-eat food);
- contact with contaminated water or soil;
- poor hygiene.
Recommended for:
- pregnant women;
- immunocompromised patients;
- acute or chronic infectious symptoms;
- negative blood culture results.
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting (8-12 hours without food)
- Exclude alcohol and fatty food 24 hours before
- Do not take immunity-affecting medications without physician notification
Medications: If taking antibiotics or immunomodulators — inform physician; collect before treatment if possible
- Fever without obvious cause;
- weakness, fatigue;
- muscle and joint pain;
- headache;
- suspected septic process or blood infection;
- negative blood cultures with symptoms.
Note: Test detects even small bacterial DNA fragments.
Negative — Listeria spp. DNA not detected.
Positive — Listeria spp. DNA detected; confirms infection.
Infectious disease parasitologist consultation recommended. Self-treatment not recommended.
