DNA Trichinella spiralis — PCR, qualitative
Detects Trichinella spiralis DNA — roundworm causing trichinellosis. PCR detects genetic material even when eggs/larvae destroyed.
Infection routes:
- consuming poorly cooked meat (pork, game);
- improper meat storage;
- raw/home-made sausage.
Recommended for:
- persons consuming home or game pork;
- symptoms of muscle pain, edema, weakness;
- negative microscopy with symptoms.

Note: Test detects even small parasite DNA fragments.
Negative — T. spiralis DNA not detected.
Positive — T. spiralis DNA detected; confirms parasite presence.
Physician consultation required at positive result.
Infectious disease parasitologist consultation recommended. Self-treatment not recommended.
