Endomysial Antibody Determination IgA, Titer

The test detects IgA class endomysial antibodies, used for diagnosing celiac disease, assessing disease activity, and monitoring gluten-free diet adherence.

Biomaterial: Venous blood

  • Submit fasting (8-12 hours without food)
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
  • Avoid stress and physical exertion 30 minutes before
  • Inform the doctor if taking immunomodulators, hormonal, or anti-inflammatory medications.
  • suspected celiac disease
  • chronic diarrhea or constipation of unknown origin
  • weight loss, anemia, or vitamin deficiency
  • nutrient absorption disorder
  • monitoring gluten-free diet adherence in already diagnosed patients

Mechanism of abnormalities

In celiac disease, the immune system produces antibodies against gluten components (gliadin) and the small intestine's own structures (endomysium, transglutaminase). These antibodies cause intestinal mucosal inflammation, villi damage, and nutrient absorption disorder.

Negative result — EMA IgA antibodies not detected

Positive result — EMA IgA antibodies detected, characteristic of celiac disease

Important: the result is assessed together with clinical data and other laboratory tests; small intestine biopsy is sometimes required
