Estradiol blood test
The test determines the level of estradiol — the primary female sex hormone of the estrogen group. Estradiol is produced predominantly by the ovaries, and in small amounts by the adrenal glands and adipose tissue. The hormone plays a key role in menstrual cycle regulation, follicle maturation, ovulation, and endometrial preparation for pregnancy. Affects reproductive function, secondary sexual characteristic formation, bone tissue condition, vascular health, skin, and emotional state.
What the test evaluates:
- Estradiol concentration in blood serum
- Ovarian functional activity
- Hormonal level correspondence to menstrual cycle phase
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Menstrual cycle day — by physician prescription (usually day 3-5)
- Exclude physical activity, stress, alcohol 24 hours before
Medications:
- Hormonal drugs and oral contraceptives may affect results
- Medication discontinuation only by physician agreement
