Estriol (E3) — placental function and pregnancy condition indicator
The test determines the level of estriol — the estrogenic hormone whose concentration significantly increases during pregnancy. Estriol is synthesized by the placenta with participation of fetal adrenal glands and liver. Used to assess placental functional state and intrauterine fetal development. Is an important component of second trimester prenatal screening. Helps detect placental insufficiency and pregnancy complication risk.
