Express Glucose Test
Express glucose test is a rapid method for determining blood sugar level, providing results within minutes.
More often used for:
rapid sugar assessment when feeling unwell
monitoring glucose level in diabetic patients
checking hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia risk
Important: the express method is suitable for quick orientation, but for questionable results, the doctor may recommend laboratory venous blood testing.
Capillary blood (fingertip)
- Preferably fasting (or as prescribed by a doctor)
Medications: consider use of glucose-lowering drugs/insulin
Prescribed for:
- sudden weakness, trembling, sweating
- dizziness, blackout/darkening of vision
- intense thirst
- signs of hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia
- for diabetes — for monitoring
Especially recommended for:
- diabetic patients
- people with suspected low sugar
- with sudden deterioration in well-being
Normal — approximately stable glucose level
High value — possible hyperglycemia
Low value — possible hypoglycemia
