Ferritin
Ferritin reflects iron stores in the body, as it is the main iron-storing protein in cells. The test helps assess iron status, detect deficiency or overload, and monitor anemia treatment.
The test helps:
- Detect iron deficiency at an early stage
- Diagnose iron-deficiency anemia
- Monitor efficacy of iron supplement therapy
- Detect iron overload (hemochromatosis)
- Clarify causes of chronic fatigue, weakness, and anemia
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Submit fasting (8-12 hours without food)
- Avoid alcohol and intense physical exertion for 24 hours
- Avoid iron supplements for 3-5 days (with doctor's approval)
- Decreased hemoglobin
- Anemia symptoms (weakness, pallor, dizziness)
