Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c)
The test determines the level of glycated hemoglobin — an indicator of average blood glucose level over the past 2-3 months. Used for diagnosing diabetes mellitus, prediabetes, and assessing treatment efficacy in patients with carbohydrate metabolism disorders.
What affects HbA1c level: average blood glucose level over 8-12 weeks, diet and treatment regimen adherence, taking glucose-lowering medications or insulin, anemias and blood diseases (may distort results).
Recommended for testing:
- people with diagnosed diabetes mellitus
- patients with diabetes risk factors
- with overweight and metabolic syndrome
- people over 40 (preventive monitoring)
- with prolonged elevated blood sugar level
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- No special preparation required
