HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein)
Lipid metabolism marker reflecting the level of 'good' cholesterol, which participates in removing excess cholesterol from blood vessels.
The test helps:
- assess atherosclerosis development risk
- determine fat metabolism status
- predict cardiovascular disease risk
- monitor diet and treatment efficacy
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Submit strictly fasting (8-12 hours without food)
- Water intake is allowed
- Avoid alcohol and fatty food for 24-48 hours
- Avoid smoking and physical exertion/stress 30 minutes before
Medications: when taking lipid-lowering drugs and hormones — inform the doctor; self-discontinuation of medications is not allowed
Prescribed for:
- cardiovascular diseases
- arterial hypertension
- diabetes mellitus
- obesity and metabolic syndrome
- preventive examinations
Decrease — increased risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases
Elevation — favorable prognostic sign
For abnormalities, consultation with a general practitioner and cardiologist is recommended. Self-treatment is contraindicated.
