Hepatitis D Virus Antibodies Total (IgM+IgG), Anti-HDV (Serum)
The test determines total antibodies (IgM and IgG) to the hepatitis D virus.
Used to detect current or past hepatitis D virus infection.
Applied for diagnosing coinfection or superinfection with hepatitis B.
Recommended for patients with confirmed hepatitis B and worsening liver function indicators.
Important: a positive result requires assessment together with hepatitis B markers.
What the test assesses:
• Presence of total Anti-HDV antibodies (IgM + IgG) in serum
• Fact of the body's contact with hepatitis D virus and possible infection activity
Biomaterial: Venous blood
• Submit fasting
• Avoid intense physical exertion for 24 hours
Medications:
• If possible, avoid antiviral and immunomodulatory medications for 24-48 hours
Recommended for testing:
• With hepatitis B and suspected hepatitis D
• With chronic liver diseases
• In comprehensive liver examination
Important: results are assessed in combination with clinical data and hepatitis B markers.
Negative result
— Anti-HDV antibodies not detected
— no contact with the virus or hidden infection
Positive result
— presence of total Anti-HDV antibodies
— indicates current or past infection, possible active phase
