Hepatitis E Virus Antibodies, Anti-HEV IgM (Serum)
The test determines IgM class antibodies to the hepatitis E virus.
Used for diagnosing the acute form of viral hepatitis E.
Allows detection of infection at an early disease stage.
Recommended for symptoms of acute hepatitis and elevated liver enzymes.
Important: a positive result requires assessment together with liver function markers.
What the test assesses:
• Presence of IgM antibodies to hepatitis E virus in serum
• Active phase of the infectious process
Biomaterial: Venous blood
• Submit fasting
• Avoid intense physical exertion for 24 hours
Medications:
• If possible, avoid antiviral and immunomodulatory medications for 24-48 hours
Recommended for testing:
• When acute hepatitis E is suspected
• With symptoms of intoxication and jaundice
• With liver function disorders
Important: results are assessed in combination with clinical data.
Negative result
— IgM antibodies to hepatitis E virus not detected
— no acute infection
Positive result
— presence of IgM antibodies to hepatitis E virus
— indicates a current acute infection
