Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) — Avidity
Test for determining the avidity of IgG antibodies to herpes simplex virus. Avidity reflects the binding strength of antibodies to the virus and allows distinguishing a recent (primary) infection from a past or chronic one. Used for clarifying infection timing, assessing virus transmission risk, and pregnancy planning.
Biomaterial: Venous blood
Fasting for 8-12 hours; avoid alcohol and potent medications for 24 hours; avoid physical exertion and stress 30 minutes before.
Inform the doctor about antiviral, immunomodulatory, or hormonal medication use.
Suspected primary HSV infection; chronic recurring disease forms; pregnancy planning; detection of IgG to HSV without obvious clinical symptoms; assessment of virus transmission risk from mother to child.
Low avidity — IgG antibodies formed recently, possible primary infection.
High avidity — antibodies formed previously, infection past or chronic carriage.
Important: interpretation by a physician only, considering the clinical picture.
