HIV
Test for detecting HIV antibodies and/or p24 antigen. Used for early diagnosis of infection, screening, diagnosis confirmation, and assessment of patient status. Allows determination of specific IgG/IgM antibody and antigen presence, assessment of infection stage, and monitoring of therapy efficacy.
Biomaterial: Venous blood
Fasting submission is preferable; avoid alcohol and potent medications for 24 hours; avoid physical exertion and stress 30 minutes before. Inform the doctor about immunomodulator, antiretroviral therapy, or other potent medication use.
Suspected HIV infection after risky contacts; symptoms of acute HIV infection; pregnancy planning; preparation for surgical procedures; screening of blood, organ, and tissue donors; as prescribed by an infectious disease physician.
Negative — HIV antibodies and p24 antigen not detected.
Positive — HIV antibodies and/or p24 antigen detected, infectious disease specialist consultation and confirmatory testing required.
