IgG antibodies to varicella-zoster virus, quantitative (Anti-Varicella-Zoster Virus IgG, Quantitative, Serum)
The study is aimed at quantitative determination of IgG antibodies to Varicella-
Zoster virus. Used to assess immunity after chickenpox or vaccination.
Prescribed when planning pregnancy, before vaccination, or when assessing protective immunity in high-risk individuals. Applied for monitoring vaccination efficacy and assessing revaccination need.
What the test evaluates:
- Concentration of IgG antibodies to VZV in blood serum
- Degree of protective immunity against chickenpox and shingles
- Fact of past infection or post-vaccination immune response
Biomaterial: Venous blood (serum)
- Draw blood fasting (8-12 hours after last meal)
- Still water is permitted
Medications:
Immunoglobulins may affect results
Other medications generally do not affect VZV IgG levels
Inform physician of all medications
Recommended for:
- Immune status assessment and preventive examinations
- When planning vaccination or preventive screenings
- When planning pregnancy, especially without confirmed immunity
- Immune response assessment and post-vaccination monitoring
Positive result (IgG antibodies detected): indicates protective immunity; low infection risk
Negative result (IgG antibodies not detected): no immunity; vaccination recommended if no contraindications
Note: For accurate immunity assessment, disease and vaccination history should be considered.
