Immunoglobulin A (IgA) (Immunoglobulin A, Serum)
The test is aimed at detection of immunoglobulin A level — the main factor of local mucosal immunity. Used to assess immune system condition. Prescribed for frequent respiratory tract and GI infections, chronic inflammatory diseases.
What the test evaluates:
- Concentration of immunoglobulin A in blood serum
- Humoral immunity state and body's ability to resist infections
Biomaterial: Venous blood
Draw blood fasting
Exclude intense physical activity 24 hours before
Medications:
Immunoglobulin and immunomodulator intake may affect results
Recommended for:
- Suspected immunodeficiency
- Frequent infections
- GI tract diseases
Important: Results evaluated in combination with clinical data and other immunity markers.
Normal/within range: IgA level corresponds to norm; immune system functioning adequately
Elevated: IgA above normal; possible active immune reaction, inflammatory process
Reduced: IgA below normal; may indicate reduced local immunity and infection susceptibility
