Immunoglobulin M (IgM) (Immunoglobulin M, Serum)
The test is intended for determination of immunoglobulin M level — a marker of primary immune response. Used to assess immune system activity. Prescribed for acute infections and immune disorders.
What the test evaluates:
- Concentration of immunoglobulin M in blood serum
- Activity of humoral immune response
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude intense physical activity 24 hours before
Medications:
Immunoglobulins and immunomodulators may affect results
Recommended for:
- Suspected immune disorders
- Acute infections
- Fever of unclear origin
Important: Results evaluated in combination with clinical data and other immunity markers.
Normal: IgM within normal range; primary immune response functioning adequately
Elevated: IgM above normal; indicates current or recent acute infection
Reduced: IgM below normal; may indicate reduced primary immune response and infection susceptibility
Physician consultation required for deviations.
