Inhibin B (Inhibin B)
The test determines the level of inhibin B — a protein hormone produced by ovarian granulosa cells in women and Sertoli cells in men. Inhibin B is a key reproductive function marker and reflects sex gland activity. Used to assess ovarian reserve in women and spermatogenesis in men. Applied in infertility diagnosis, sexual maturation disorders, and hormonal dysfunction.
What the test evaluates:
- Inhibin B concentration in blood serum
- Ovarian functional state in women
- Sertoli cell activity and spermatogenesis process in men
- FSH secretion regulation
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Women: recommended day 2-5 of menstrual cycle (unless physician specifies otherwise)
- Exclude physical activity, stress, alcohol 24 hours before
Medications:
- Hormonal drugs may affect results
- Medication discontinuation only by physician agreement
Recommended for:
- Infertility, menstrual irregularities, reduced ovarian reserve
- IVF program preparation and management
- Reproductive system hormonal disorders
- Reduced fertility and spermatogenesis disorders in men
- Delayed or premature sexual development
Low inhibin B: in women — reduced ovarian reserve, premature ovarian depletion; in men — spermatogenesis disorder
Elevated level: may occur with active gonadal function or some hormonally active tumors
Results evaluated considering sex, age, and menstrual cycle phase.
