Interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) (Interleukin-1 beta, Serum)
Determination of pro-inflammatory cytokine level participating in inflammation and fever development. Used for diagnosis of chronic inflammatory processes.
What the test evaluates:
- Concentration of interleukin-1beta in blood serum
- Activity of inflammatory reactions
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
Medications:
Effect of specific drugs is usually minor; anti-inflammatory drug intake may slightly reduce result
Recommended for:
- Pronounced inflammation
- Autoimmune diseases
- Prolonged fever
- Chronic inflammation
Results evaluated together with clinical data and other lab markers.
Normal: IL-1beta concentration within normal range; inflammatory processes absent or within physiological norm
Deviations: elevated IL-1beta level; indicates active inflammatory process, autoimmune or chronic disease
Physician consultation required for deviations.
