Interleukin-6 (IL-6) (Interleukin-6, Serum)
The test is aimed at detection of an acute and chronic inflammation marker. Used to assess inflammatory process severity.
What the test evaluates:
- Concentration of interleukin-6 in blood serum
- Activity of systemic inflammation
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
Medications:
Anti-inflammatory drugs, glucocorticosteroids, and immunomodulators may affect results
Recommended for:
- Inflammatory diseases
- Infectious processes
- Chronic inflammation
- Patients for treatment monitoring
Results evaluated together with clinical data and other lab inflammation parameters.
Normal: IL-6 within reference values; active systemic inflammation not detected
Deviations: elevated IL-6 level; may indicate acute infectious process, autoimmune disease, chronic inflammation, or severe systemic inflammatory response
Physician consultation required for deviations.
