Intestinal pathogen group (dysentery group, salmonellosis, etc.) without antibiotic sensitivity determination
Bacteriological stool culture for intestinal pathogen detection including dysentery, salmonellosis, and other acute intestinal diseases. Detects pathogenic microorganisms, confirms diagnosis, and assesses infectious process activity.
Deviation mechanism: Pathogenic intestinal microorganisms disrupt normal microflora, cause mucosal inflammation and intoxication. Culture detects bacteria quantity.
Recommended for: acute intestinal infection symptom patients; chronic or recurrent intestinal disorders; intestinal infection diagnosis confirmation; endemic region epidemiological control.
Stool in sterile container
Avoid antibiotics 48-72 hours before (by physician agreement)
Do not use laxatives or enemas 24 hours before
Collect fresh stool (not older than 2-3 hours)
Deliver to laboratory as quickly as possible
Prolonged or recurrent diarrhea; abdominal pain and cramps; weakness, elevated temperature, intoxication; suspected bacterial intestinal infection; epidemiological indications.
Pathogenic intestinal microorganisms detected — infection confirmed.
Not detected — pathogenic microorganisms not found.
Physician makes final assessment.
Note: Sensitivity testing only when clinically significant organism detected.
Recommended physicians: Infectious disease specialist; General Practitioner; Pediatrician (children).
