Lipase is a pancreatic enzyme.
The test helps detect:
- acute and chronic pancreatitis
- pancreatic damage
- digestive disorders
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Fasting for 8-12 hours
- Avoid fatty food and alcohol for 24 hours
Medications: inform the doctor about hormonal and lipid-lowering drug use.
Prescribed for:
- upper abdominal pain
- nausea, vomiting
- suspected pancreatitis
- GI diseases
Recommended for testing:
- patients with pancreatic diseases
- with prolonged abdominal pain
- with excessive fatty food or alcohol consumption
Elevation — acute pancreatitis, exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis
Decrease — possible with chronic pancreatic damage
