Luteinizing hormone (LH) (Luteinizing Hormone, LH, Serum)
The test determines the level of luteinizing hormone (LH), produced by the pituitary gland and regulating sex gland function. LH plays a key role in ovulation in women and testosterone synthesis in men. Used to assess reproductive function, diagnose hormonal disorders and infertility.
Recommended for menstrual cycle disorders, absent ovulation, infertility, reduced libido.
What the test evaluates:
- Luteinizing hormone concentration in blood serum
- Functional state of the pituitary-gonadal system
Biomaterial: Venous blood (serum)
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude intense physical activity and stress 24 hours before
Medications:
- Hormonal drugs may affect results
- Medication discontinuation only by physician agreement

Elevated LH: may indicate menopause, polycystic ovary syndrome, primary ovarian insufficiency, or hypogonadism in men
Reduced LH: indicates pituitary insufficiency or secondary hypogonadotropic dysfunction
Note: For women, menstrual cycle day must be considered; IVF planning interpretation must be conducted by specialist.
