Muscle-Specific Tyrosine Kinase (MUSK) Antibody Determination, IIF, Titer
The test detects antibodies to muscle-specific tyrosine kinase (MUSK). Used for diagnosing myasthenia gravis — an autoimmune disease in which nerve impulse transmission to muscles is impaired. Especially informative when myasthenia gravis is suspected with negative acetylcholine receptor antibodies.
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Submit fasting (8-12 hours without food)
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
- Avoid stress and physical exertion 30 minutes before
- If taking immunomodulators, hormonal, or anti-inflammatory medications — inform the doctor.
- muscle weakness worsening toward evening
- drooping eyelids (ptosis)
- double vision
- difficulty chewing, swallowing, speaking
- rapid muscle fatigue
- suspected myasthenia gravis with negative AChR
Negative result — MUSK antibodies not detected.
Positive result — MUSK antibodies detected, characteristic of MUSK-associated myasthenia gravis.
Important: the result is assessed only in combination with clinical symptoms and other tests.
