PCR detection of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) RNA
Detects SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus RNA. Used for acute COVID-19 diagnosis, detection of contagious patients, and virus spread monitoring.
Mechanism: SARS-CoV-2 is present in respiratory tract → releases RNA → detected by PCR even at low virus quantities.
Recommended for: COVID-19 symptom patients; contact persons; diagnosis confirmation before hospitalization; prophylactic and research purposes.
Biomaterial: Nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swab
Do not eat or drink 2 hours before collection
Do not brush teeth or rinse mouth
Avoid smoking and sprays before collection
Suspected COVID-19; infection symptoms (cough, fever, loss of taste/smell, dyspnea); contact persons; hospitalization planning, travel, or pre-vaccination.
Positive — SARS-CoV-2 RNA detected; patient is contagious.
Negative — virus RNA not detected; active infection not found.
Results evaluated together with clinical symptoms and epidemiological data.
Infectious disease specialist or General Practitioner consultation recommended at positive result.
