Detects microorganisms in periodontal canal causing root canal and surrounding gum tissue infections; determines antibiotic sensitivity for most effective treatment. Confirms periodontitis and other inflammatory processes.
Deviation mechanism: Periodontal canal — normally contains small bacterial amounts. With tooth/gum barrier disruption, opportunistic bacteria multiply → inflammation, pain, edema. Without treatment, infection spreads to adjacent tissues. Culture detects specific bacteria, quantity, and antibiotic sensitivity.
Recommended for: tooth and gum infection symptom patients; chronic/recurrent post-root-canal inflammation; pre-dental-surgery preparation; antibiotic therapy monitoring; children and adults with complicated periodontitis.
