Retinyl palmitate (vitamin A) (Retinyl Palmitate, Vitamin A, Serum)
The test determines the level of retinyl palmitate - the main storage form of vitamin A - in blood serum. Vitamin A participates in: vision processes; cell growth and differentiation; immunity maintenance; skin and mucous membrane health. The study detects vitamin A deficiency or excess, which is especially important when taking vitamin preparations.
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude fatty food and vitamin A intake 24 hours before
Medications:
If possible, discontinue vitamin A and complexes with high retinol content 24-48 hours before
If discontinuation is not possible - indicate medications taken
- Reduced twilight vision
- Dry skin and mucous membranes
- Frequent infections
- Suspected hypo- or hypervitaminosis A
