Rubella Virus Antibodies IgM (Serum)
The study is designed to detect IgM class antibodies to the rubella virus.
Used for diagnosing primary acute rubella infection.
Allows detection of recent infection at an early disease stage.
Particularly important when examining pregnant women due to high risk of congenital rubella and severe fetal developmental defects.
Prescribed for presence of clinical signs: fever, maculopapular rash, enlarged occipital and cervical lymph nodes.
What the test assesses:
– Presence of IgM class antibodies to the rubella virus.
– Active phase of the infectious process.
– Recent primary contact of the body with the virus.
Biomaterial: Venous blood (serum)
– Submit fasting.
– Drinking still water is allowed.
– It is advisable to avoid physical and emotional exertion before the test.
Medications:
– It is recommended to submit the test before starting antiviral or immunomodulatory therapy.
– When taking any medications, inform the doctor or indicate them when submitting the test.
Recommended for testing:
– During pregnancy and when primary infection is suspected.
– With clinical signs of rubella or epidemiological contact.
– With fever, skin rash, and general infectious syndrome.
– Positive result: indicates primary acute or recent rubella infection; urgent specialist consultation is required, especially for pregnant women.
– Negative result: active infection is unlikely; if clinically suspected, repeat testing or IgG determination is recommended.
Important — interpretation of results is performed in combination with Rubella IgG determination, the clinical picture, and the possible infection timeframe.
