SCC (Squamous cell carcinoma antigen SCCAg)
SCCAg oncomarker is applied for diagnosis of squamous cell cancer of various localizations. Used for diagnosis confirmation, disease stage assessment, and treatment efficacy monitoring. Applied for dynamic patient monitoring after surgical, chemo-, and radiation treatment.
What the test evaluates:
- SCCAg antigen concentration in blood serum
- Presence, severity, and dynamics of tumor process
- Therapy efficacy and recurrence risk
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude alcohol 24 hours before
- Avoid intense physical activity
Medications:
- Chemotherapeutic and hormonal drugs may affect test results
- Medication discontinuation only by physician prescription
Recommended for:
- Treatment monitoring and patient follow-up with squamous cell cancer
- Invasive cervical cancer and suspected recurrence
- Squamous cell lung tumors
- Squamous cell skin cancer
Important: SCCAg level is not used as the sole diagnostic method. Results evaluated together with clinical data, instrumental methods (ultrasound, CT, MRI), and other lab studies.
Elevated SCCAg possible with:
- squamous cell cervical, lung, skin cancer;
- organ metastatic lesion;
- epithelial inflammatory processes;
- benign squamous epithelial changes
