SCCA (Squamous cell carcinoma antigen)
SCCA (squamous cell carcinoma antigen) oncomarker is applied for detection of squamous cell origin malignant tumors. Used for treatment efficacy assessment, disease dynamics monitoring, and early recurrence detection.
What the test evaluates:
- SCCA antigen level in blood serum
- Tumor process activity and dynamics
- Therapy efficacy and recurrence risk
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude alcohol 24 hours before
- Avoid intense physical activity
Medications:
- Antitumor and hormonal therapy may affect marker level
- Inform physician of all medications taken
Recommended for:
- Diagnosis of squamous cell cancer and disease monitoring
- Cervical cancer and high-grade dysplasias
- Suspected laryngeal, pharyngeal, and oral cavity tumors
- Suspected squamous cell lung cancer
Important: SCCA level is not used as the sole diagnostic method. Results evaluated together with clinical data, instrumental methods (ultrasound, CT, MRI), and other lab studies.
Elevated SCCA possible with:
- squamous cell cervical, lung, laryngeal, oral cavity cancer;
- organ metastatic lesion;
- benign squamous epithelial diseases;
- inflammatory processes
