Stool coprology (coprogram)
Coprogram — comprehensive laboratory stool examination assessing gastrointestinal organ function, digestion and absorption processes, and detecting inflammation signs and functional disorders. Used for stomach, intestine, liver, bile duct, and pancreatic disease diagnosis.
Biomaterial: Stool
- Exclude fatty, spicy food and alcohol 2-3 days before
- Do not take laxatives, sorbents, enzymes
- No rectal suppositories or enemas
- No X-ray studies or colonoscopy
- Do not collect during menstruation
- Inform physician of antibiotic, enzyme, digestion-affecting drug intake
Collect ⅓ of sterile container volume; deliver within 3 hours; store at +2 to +8°C up to 8-12 hours if needed
- Abdominal pain and discomfort;
- bloating,
- flatulence;
- diarrhea or constipation;
- stool color, odor, or consistency changes;
- nausea, vomiting;
- suspected inflammatory bowel diseases;
- food digestion disorders;
- unexplained weight loss;
- GI treatment efficacy monitoring.
Note: Coprogram results evaluated by physician together with clinical symptoms, history, and other studies.
Deviations may indicate inflammation, enzyme deficiency, fat/protein/carbohydrate digestion disorders, liver/pancreatic diseases, intestinal infections, or dysbiosis.
